Swine Influenza Information
The Swine Influenza (H1N1) is a particularly lethal strain of the influenza virus that affects domestic pigs and, in rare cases, can spread to humans. Following the current outbreak in Mexico, cases have been reported in other countries, including the USA, Canada, Europe and South Korea. Like the spread of typical seasonal influenza, the virus is transmitted via personal contact with an infected individual or via contaminated surfaces such as a keyboard or mouse. Human to human transmission is occurring and the risk of infection is high, particularly with international travel to countries already affected. More
